I get a lot of questions about Clinical Massage and how it differs from other therapies. We've all heard of holistic, full body massage or sports massage, but what is Clinical Massage?
I like to think of clinical massage as a fusion of lots of different massage modalities - shiatsu, acupressure, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, stretching and lots and lots of lovely broad relaxing strokes. Yes, you heard it. This therapy is not about pummeling you and causing you more pain.

Our work is based on the Biopsychosocial model of chronic pain. What does this mean? Well, it refers to the fact that when we experience pain, our fears, thoughts, anxieties and support systems all feed into how we perceive pain. Ever had an injury and been in fear the pain would never subside? When this occurs our brain ramps up the volume of our pain receptors, causing an increase and prolonged level of pain. So how can CLINICAL MASSAGE help?
Clinical massage is a holistic treatment - we don't just look at the site of the pain but the WHOLE body.
In the first 90 minute session we will take you through an in depth consultation, looking at your pain, range of motion, as well as getting to understand YOU; what's going on in your life, where are you working, stress levels etc. Then, using this information we will create a treatment plan bespoke to you, enabling us to get to the root cause of the pain with longer lasting effects.
